Finding Flow Through Teaching

Teaching yoga provides me the “flow experience” psychologist Mihaly Czikszentmihali defines as “the feeling of spontaneous joy, even rapture, while performing a task.” It’s when you do one of those things that spans hours yet feels like minutes. Maybe that’s why my classes run a little long… and why I spend oodles of hours researching others’ classes… or perfecting playlists… or creating sequences to lead the body and mind towards a greater sense of connectedness. Flow is based on the dual concepts of challenge & skill. It arrives when you are skilled and challenged to a high degree — physically, mentally, or a combination thereof.

December 2015 Class Schedule:

Restorative Holiday Circuit: Just in time for the holidays! A calming practice designed to help you sink into comfort and relaxation. Move from station to station, and settle in for the perfect release… of your hips, shoulders, mind, and body. Stations are accompanied by related essential oils and lots of props.  

Time/Day: Tuesday, December 22nd 5:30-6:45pm.
Location: Minocqua Optical & Wellness Clinic

Foundation Flow: Follow the rhythm of your breath to find stability by drawing in strength and ease. Develop awareness through mindfulness and sustained poses. Leave refreshed & inspired!  Please Bring Mat & Block if you have them.Drop-in’s welcome. If a new student, please give me a heads-up by texting (715)482-0167.
Time/Day: EVERY Tuesday 8:30-9:45am.

Happy Hour Flow: The perfect post-work “cocktail” of shoulder openers, hip stretches, and mind easers! Flow through well-crafted sequences that leave your body and mind feeling refreshed and relieved. Limited spots available, advance register with Margaret by texting (715)490-6226.
Time/Day: Fridays 5:45-7:00pm. (no classes Christmas or New Years Day)

Saturday Vinyasa: Strong flow class correlating breath and movement, set to music to create a fun, invigorating and inspirational experience. Register online at TNolanYoga.
